Quotes From Dead People - Part 8

“Nothing that results in human progress is achieved with unanimous consent. Those that are enlightened before the others are condemned to pursue that light in spite of the others.” - Christopher Columbus

I am impressed with people who are willing to follow their heart and do something with their life despite the pessimists around them. Even though it hadn't been tried, Columbus tried to find a shorter route to India by just going West. His discovery was far more important. Sure, many sailors died in other types of attempts, but he didn't.

We don't have to be an explorer, but we can be pioneers in our own lives. Find something you are passionate about or set off on a small scale adventure of some sort, maybe pursue a different course than your friends and family. You only live once, gentlemen, at least awhile. And dying in your beds, many years from now, what would you be willin' to trade from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back to the point in your life where you still have FREEDOM!
