For those unfamiliar with Thomas Paine, he was a philosopher and one of the founding fathers of our nation. He is the one who said "These are the times that try man's souls...". This quote stuck out to me in that it shows a willingness to sacrifice in order to bring about a better future. This notion of responsibility is disappearing. Without accepting responsibility, freedom will eventually be lost.
In regards to our founding fathers, I have a lot of respect for these men. They fought for an ideal to let men govern themselves, nearly 10% of the colonists died in the Revolutionary War. But in the end, they won their freedome, they won our freedom, and the freedom of many other countries that followed the same ideals.
