36 Questions from Feminists - Part 6

6.  Why are you surprised when women are funny?

Because most women are not funny. Their jokes center around their stinky crotches, bashing men, or the like. Rarely do I hear a female comedian talk about nuanced truths, life, or deep satire.  Like in art, women are centered on themselves, which leads to poor entertainment. Google "women artists" and pick any random artist, and chances are, you will see a plethora of self portraits. Comedy is a form of art, and what you hear from women is this same sort of narcissistic "art" shown in movies and stand up routines. Sorry, but the self-obsessed view of the world gets old. Amy Schumer is one of the more renowned female comedians, compare with Robin Williams. She is "me me me me" through the whole set.

This is how women in the art of comedy appear, the act gets old.

There is a good lesson behind this. Talking about yourself brings attention to yourself, but only for the short term. Best way to get others to rally around you on a consistent basis is to put your emphasis on a noble idea. George Washington, for instance did very well for himself as a surveyor/statesman. People rallied around him because of the virtues he tried to uphold. He could have easily become the king of the New World, but instead focused on the idea of the fledgling nation. His status was increased because he focused on others.
