36 Questions from Feminists Part 9

9. In what world does no mean yes?

Not here. If you are referring to rape laws, and a man forcibly has sex with a man despite her protests, then he should go to jail.

The problem is, there are many grey areas:

a) A man has is drunk, and a woman is drunk. They have sex, and she regrets it. Is this rape? He could just as easily claim rape in a sane world, now that the sex is a regrettable act.

b) A woman has sober sex but later regrets it, this is not rape. It is poor decisions on the part of the woman.

c) A woman waits 10 years (or more in some cases) to claim that she was violated. This is wrong, the evidence is destroyed with time, If she waited that long, she is letting a supposed violent criminal stay in society where he can destroy other people's lives.

d) A man convinces a woman to have sex with her through gifts, favors, or money. This is prostitution, not rape. It is a transactional agreement, and a woman claiming "metoo" is renigging on that agreement. She is the one in the wrong.

In the civilized world, there is this thing called assumption of innocence, which is the basis of a fair court system. It is up to the plaintiff to show proof of guilt, it is not the responsibility of the defendant to show proof of innocence. If it were so, lives could be destroyed just by false accusations. Tyranny would ensue. Unfortunately, things are trending in that direction.
