Outstanding Skills for Generation Alpha: For the Father ~ by Ransom

This is the second entry in a series of articles about preparing Generation Alpha boys for success in life.  The first entry may be found here.

Before addressing the skills and attributes that will set your sons apart it is important to build the foundations upon which your sons will learn.

It is important to build an environment in which your sons will have the best chance of learning.  This starts with you.

Learning takes place on many paths but some of the earliest and deepest forms of learning take place through mimicry.

You sons watch you and seek to mimic you.

Your habits, good and bad, are on full display at all times.

Your attitudes and mental models are on full display at all times.

Each child is unique and will follow the natural path of his temperament but the way that unfolds is strongly determined by you.

If you are courageous your children will think that courage is natural.

If you are miserly your children will think that money is hard to obtain.

If you make exertion a part of your life your children will want to do the same.

If you value the pursuit of knowledge and are seen doing so your children will think it natural to pursue their own interests.

This is of course not guaranteed; you are influencing your children's development and not dictating it, but your influence is strong.

Their natural desire to imitate what they see is a powerful tool for establishing baseline expectations and ensuring you yourself have the skills you wish to transmit.

Put simply, be the man you want your sons to be.
