36 Questions from Women - Part 17 ~ by Ransom

17. Why is it so bad to show your emotions?

On a causal level, most of us learned early on that no-one gives a rip about our feelings and will often actively punish us for them.  If you are interested in changing that then I suggest you reward male emotionalism with sex, long-term pair bonding, and general pleasantness.

You won't, of course, which is part of why we don't.

On a functional level, a man's value is disproportionately determined by his performance in crisis.  Emotional behavior is a liability in such situations, not just for a man himself but also for his team.  Most men know this instinctively and will censure their peers for such displays.  Even outside of crisis emotions can come at a price.  It is best to check them for safety's sake.

Women operate under different conditions and are held to different standards.

Men are not dysfunctional women.
