Cut the Bullshit and Eat

Good to be back in season, I’m sure you guys agree.  We may look like tubs of goo right now but that will all change if you make it.  I did a lot of thinking over the off season and analyzing ways I could set myself up to achieve my goals this year.  I looked at some things that occurred in Season II that I had to change.  These weren’t things like foot position while doing deadlifts or doing dumbbell curls over barbell.  No, these were changes outside the gym, particularly nutrition and personal decisions that I had to fix.

Former Fat Kid/Skinny Teen

When I was around 12 I was a chubby kid.  Not some lard ass kid like you see today but fat enough.  During high school I grew taller and exercised to lose all the fat, but I was just a tall lanky kid.  Fast forward to adulthood and as I get older, gaining fat seems to happen easier than ever.  As all of you know, to make gainz you gotta eat, and eat big, but I was always afraid of gaining fat (which is inevitable)  then I’d freak out and diet/cardio down to skinny again.  This happened for years, constantly yo-yo effect.  It even affected me after joining WB Fitness.  You see people do this all the time, lose a ton of fat and get skinny and weak, then return to old habits and gain it all back.  I reached a point that I was just fucking done with all of this.

You think Ronnie is afraid of eating?

As I said in a comment on last Friday’s post I looked in the mirror and said to myself “Yeah you can go on a calorie deficit and do tons of cardio and shed fat, but you’d be a skinny weak bitch. Do you want to be a skinny weak bitch or a monster?”  Long story short, you HAVE to eat to get swole.  In doing so you’re going to gain fat, deal with it.  Stop obsessing over weight like some bitch.  In actuality we want to gain weight, but our compositions will change.  You’ll gain fat, it sucks, but deal with it.  This is the approach I’ve taken.  Remember, we’re gaining muscle under that flab and its gonna be revealed when we cut the fat down later in the program.  The WB Fitness diet is one that will leave you feeling full and fueled.  I was even chatting with Lou Skunt about the importance of your pre-workout meal.  I’ve been having oatmeal and a piece of fruit an hour before the gym and its helping me power though the latter half of the workouts.  Your car needs gas to drive and you need food to fuel your gainz.

In short, eat the fucking food.  You need it or your wasting your time.

Booze Hound

I fucking love beer and whiskey.  Who wouldnt?  That said, anything taken too far can be bad.  I’m gonna be real with you as Im being real with myself, Im the motherfucker that takes drinking too far.  Not that I go out looking for fights or whatever, but once I start, I wont stop.  Call it alcoholism, call it weak will, I dont give a shit. The problem with drinking excessively is you tend to stay up way too late, neglecting your body the time it needs to repair your muscles, you’re drinking a ton of calories that are doing shit for your gainz, you typically dont wake up in time for the gym/are groggy and hung over lifting, and there are studies that support that alcohol kills your muscle growth and actually produces more estrogen in your body.  Listen, if you can have a cheat beer on a Friday night or something or a bottle of wine and be OK, so be it.  But I know myself, and instead of wasting my energy drinking, Im gonna cut the shit and go to bed so I can get up and kill it at the gym tomorrow.  I was chatting with WB about this and how we have a psychocotic obsessive personality.  People like us tend to go 110% in everything, whether thats a good thing or bad thing.  Im giving this shit all of my attention and dedication, so I need to leave the bullshit behind.

Both of these topics I wanted to share with you guys because as a team we all hold ourselves accountable to each other.  I wont be up here on this soapbox peddling fitness advice and then fucking it all away.  This comes back to that epic post by WB about not being your own anchor.  We all get those notions to fuck around but we have to look at the big picture. You have to know  yourself and do everything you can to succeed. We have to cut the shit and realize that giving up or sabotaging your training now is giving in to a short term reward for a long term failure.  In 5 months when its July, all that bullshit rationalizing you did to justify going off track will be apparent when you still look the same you do today, or even worse than you do today.

Music Blasting, Gorilla Walk in there and fucking murder it.  This is no longer optional for me.
